Is it time to hit the panic button on the 2026-27 New Jersey Devils this early in the season? There are arguments for both sides.

Pucks and Pitchforks writer Luke Garrison questions whether it is time to panic over the New Jersey Devils' 2-3 start to the 2026-27 season. The Devils recently suffered a 4-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators, marked by 13 penalty minutes, including an Anthony Mantha major boarding penalty on Nikolas Matinpalo, and a Stephen Halliday power-play goal.
Garrison argues that low scoring and poor discipline are plaguing the team, pointing out that New Jersey has scored only 11 goals through five games. He suggests head coach Sheldon Keefe could face firing if the struggles persist into November or December.
