The New York Islanders took down the Toronto Maple Leafs in a total team victory on Saturday night, winning 4-1.

Ondrej Palat delivered a dominant performance to help the New York Islanders secure a 4-1 road victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. Despite the Islanders losing forwards Matias Maccelli and Cal Ritchie to first-period lower-body injuries, Palat stepped up as New York played with only 10 forwards. When the 35-year-old was on the ice at five-on-five, the Islanders out-attempted Toronto 19-1 in total shot attempts.
Head coach Peter DeBoer praised Palat's work ethic and form since training camp, indicating the veteran forward has earned increased playing time. Through the first eight games of the season, Palat leads the Islanders with a 64.97 Corsi For percentage, with New York out-attempting opponents 102 to 55 during his shifts. Simon Holmstrom scored twice, while Bo Horvat and Anthony Duclair also scored in the victory.
