Fresh off a victory over Toronto, the injury bug bites New York as two key forwards face weeks sidelined, forcing immediate roster shuffling and an emergency AHL recall.

The New York Islanders announced that forwards Matias Maccelli and Cal Ritchie will both miss multiple weeks following lower-body injuries. Maccelli is projected to be sidelined for two to four weeks, while Ritchie will miss four to six weeks. Both players sustained their injuries during the first period of New York's 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Ritchie was injured on his very first shift of the contest and did not return to the ice. Maccelli's absence poses a significant loss for the offense, having recorded two goals and six points across his first seven appearances this season.
