NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, and Montreal Canadiens

According to hockey insider Dave Pagnotta on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio, the Toronto Maple Leafs are actively exploring the trade market to add a second-pair defenseman. Toronto aims to acquire a stay-at-home blueliner to stabilize their defensive zone play, despite already having depth options like Nick Blankenburg and Troy Stecher on the roster.

Pagnotta also noted that the Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders remain active in pursuit of top-six forward talent. Montreal previously offered a strong futures package, reportedly including Oliver Kapanen, in trade discussions for Kirill Marchenko before Columbus acquired Matthew Knies.
