An extremely rare rookie trading card featuring New York Islanders defenseman Matthew Schaefer has sold at auction for $66,689 USD ($95,100 CAD). The card, originally pulled by Rémi Card Trader, is an autographed one-of-one Ultimate Rookie Shield that was sold via an eBay auction.
Schaefer had a record-breaking rookie campaign, concluding with 23 goals and 59 points. He has continued his strong form into the 2026-27 season, tallying two assists in a 6-0 win against the New Jersey Devils and becoming the youngest alternate captain in Islanders franchise history.
