Rumors surrounding NY Islanders’ defenseman Scott Mayfield shot down by Mathieu Darche

Mathieu Darche has dismissed trade rumors surrounding New York Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield, stating there is no truth to recent speculation. Trade chatter grew after Mayfield fell out of regular playing time under head coach Peter DeBoer, with multiple clubs including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Blackhawks, and Seattle Kraken reportedly showing interest.

Darche clarified that the presence of Mayfield's agent, Matt Keator, at UBS Arena was solely related to representing other players on both rosters. Mayfield currently has four years left on his contract at an average annual value of $3.5 million, which includes a no-trade clause for the current season.
