The "relentless" rookie is turning heads across the NHL, earning high marks for his gritty net-front presence and tenacity ahead of a crucial roster decision in New York.
New York Islanders general manager Mathieu Darche strongly praised rookie forward Victor Eklund, highlighting his relentless work ethic, net-front presence, and ability to win puck battles. Darche noted that opposing general managers have taken notice of the young forward, expressing hope that Eklund remains with the organization for a long time as he continues to develop his physical strength and skating.
Eklund scored in New York's 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks, bringing his season totals to two goals and one assist in nine games while averaging 13:21 of ice time. The Islanders face a pivotal contract decision, as appearing in a tenth game will officially burn the first year of his entry-level contract.
