Rangers Daily: Lafreniere tries to ‘capture momentum;’ MacKinnon fight

New York Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan is looking for forward Alexis Lafreniere to build on his strong finish from last season and recapture momentum alongside linemates Mika Zibanejad and Gabe Perreault. The unit struggled in a 3-0 season-opening loss to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, where Lafreniere failed to record a shot on goal across 18:17 of ice time.

With Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck previously traded, the Rangers require greater offensive production as they prepare for their home opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Elsewhere around the league, Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon scored twice and engaged in a rare fight against Brandt Clarke during an 8-4 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.
