The New York Rangers suffered a 7-1 defeat against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Thursday night. Goaltender Dylan Garand conceded four goals on 13 shots before coach Mike Sullivan replaced him with Spencer Martin early in the second period. Evan Rodrigues opened the scoring late in the first period, initiating a run of six unanswered goals from New Jersey that completely overwhelmed New York's defense.
Luke Hughes netted two goals, while Nico Hischier, Arseny Gritsyuk, Stefan Noesen, and Cody Glass also scored for the Devils. Pavel Dorofeyev scored New York's lone goal on a third-period power play, deflecting a shot from Adam Fox with an assist from Alexis Lafreniere. The loss drops the Rangers to a 1-3-0 road record for the season.
