Goalie Joonas Korpisalo practiced with the New York Rangers on Friday, the next step as he works his way back from a month on the sidelines due to a foot infection.

New York Rangers goaltender Joonas Korpisalo participated in his first team practice on Friday since suffering a foot infection four weeks ago. Head coach Mike Sullivan described the practice session as a big step, although Korpisalo's ice time remains restricted under medical workload management. The Rangers do not plan to rush the 32-year-old netminder, keeping his targeted return set for roughly mid-November.
Korpisalo's impending return comes as rookie Dylan Garand manages a heavy workload following a season-ending knee injury to Igor Shesterkin on October 9. After Garand showed signs of fatigue, veteran James Reimer started against the Los Angeles Kings but was pulled after one period in an eventual 6-3 defeat.
