The New York Rangers have recalled goaltender Dylan Garand from the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack to serve as backup to Igor Shesterkin. Garand replaces Joonas Korpisalo, who was placed on injured reserve with a week-to-week, lower-body injury according to Mollie Walker of the New York Post.
Garand cleared waivers before roster cuts, giving New York roster flexibility throughout October. With upcoming games scheduled for Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday, Garand could earn playing time in the Rangers' crease while Korpisalo recovers from his injury.
