Hoyt Stanley’s Surprising Selection To Senators’ 23 Man Roster

Defenseman Hoyt Stanley has officially earned a spot on the Ottawa Senators' 23-man opening night roster following training camp. The 21-year-old was initially drafted in the fourth round, 108th overall, by Ottawa in the 2023 NHL Draft and entered camp with only six games of professional experience.

Stanley played three seasons at Cornell University before attending his first main NHL camp, where he was frequently paired with regular defenseman Tyler Kleven. Stanley's disciplined play, size, and skating ability drew praise from veteran teammates, including alternate captain Thomas Chabot.
