Don't be surprised if William Eklund has a breakout season for the Senators this campaign.

SenShot writer Michael DeRosa predicts forward William Eklund could become the Ottawa Senators' breakout star for the 2026-27 NHL season. Following the offseason departure of former captain Brady Tkachuk, Ottawa is seeking replacement offense as they open their regular season against the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 3.
DeRosa notes that the 23-year-old Eklund recorded 53 points in 78 games with the San Jose Sharks last season. Expected to secure a top-six role in Ottawa, DeRosa argues Eklund has the potential to reach at least 70 points and serve as a crucial offensive factor.
