Matvei Michkov skated with something to prove in Flyers preseason debut

Matvei Michkov starred in his preseason debut as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Boston Bruins 2-0 on Thursday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena. After serving a bench penalty early in the exhibition, the 21-year-old Michkov raced out of the penalty box, initiated an offensive sequence, and scored the opening goal from the top of the crease.

Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet praised the performance, calling Michkov's effort really nice to see. Throughout the contest, Michkov generated scoring opportunities alongside teammates such as Helge Grans and Trevor Zegras against Boston goaltender Rick DiPietro and defenseman Billy Sweezey.
