The Vancouver Canucks have placed former San Jose Sharks defenseman Jack Thompson on waivers with the intent of reassigning him to their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks.

The Vancouver Canucks have placed defenseman Jack Thompson on waivers with the goal of assigning him to the AHL affiliate Abbotsford Canucks. Thompson, previously with the San Jose Sharks, missed the team's training camp and the opening of the 2026-27 season because of an injury.
Now cleared and ready to play, the 24-year-old blueliner will head to Abbotsford if he clears waivers. Vancouver had originally acquired Thompson from San Jose in a one-for-one trade that sent defenseman Jett Woo to the Sharks organization.
