Riley Blackwell grew up as a life-long San Jose Sharks fan. Her mother attended games during the Sharks' short stay at the Cow Palace and her grandfather was a season-ticket holder for many years.

Lifelong San Jose Sharks fan Riley Blackwell discussed her experience performing the national anthem for the NHL franchise at the SAP Center. After building her portfolio singing at college hockey games, Blackwell debuted for the Sharks on January 3 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, combining her family's long-standing connection to the club with her musical passion.
Blackwell detailed her pre-game routine, which includes morning warmups, sound checks, and managing nerves in front of sold-out crowds. She previously sang both anthems against the Vancouver Canucks and performed against the Boston Bruins on October 13, with another appearance scheduled for October 27 against the Buffalo Sabres.
