After the San Jose Sharks' difficult loss to the Ottawa Senators on Halloween night, coach Ryan Warsofsky blamed player buy-in for a portion of the team's disappointing play, but that has been rebuffed by Sharks captain Macklin Celebrini.

San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky and captain Macklin Celebrini have expressed differing views regarding player buy-in following a loss to the Ottawa Senators. While Warsofsky confirmed that player buy-in was an issue the team needs to work on, Celebrini disputed that assessment ahead of a matchup against the Calgary Flames, pointing instead to a lack of energy and connection.
The Sharks hold a 7-7-1 record through their first 15 games, ranking in the bottom third of the NHL in both goals for and goals against. Ahead of Monday's contest, Warsofsky implemented line changes and indicated that potential systemic adjustments are also under consideration.
