The Hockey Writers argues that the San Jose Sharks established an ideal leadership structure around 20-year-old Macklin Celebrini after naming him the youngest captain in franchise history. On Sept. 30, the Sharks announced four seasoned alternate captains to support him: Tyler Toffoli and Darnell Nurse for road games, alongside Barclay Goodrow and Alexander Wennberg for home games.
Deepanjan Mitra highlights that the quartet provides three Stanley Cup rings and over 3,000 games of NHL experience. Mitra notes that Nurse, who experienced Connor McDavid's early captaincy in Edmonton, offers particularly valuable mentorship, allowing Celebrini to develop without carrying the sole burden of leadership.
