Last night, right from the start of the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Detroit Red Wings, several fans in attendance chanted “We Want Larkin” loud and clear.
Former Montreal Canadiens scout Grant McCagg criticized Habs fans for chanting "We Want Larkin" during a game against the Detroit Red Wings, calling the display embarrassing. Fans reportedly started the chant in an apparent effort to persuade Detroit captain Dylan Larkin to consider Montreal as an acceptable destination. Writer Michaël Petit and McCagg argued the gesture was ineffective and potentially awkward for current Canadiens center Alex Newhook.
Petit expresses skepticism that Larkin would change his stance regarding playing in Canada, citing family factors and broader reluctance among American players. The writer contends that acquiring Larkin would carry unwanted risks, arguing Montreal should avoid targeting players who need convincing to join the organization.
