There was a time when a third-period, game-tying goal from Steven Stamkos would have brought much joy to Tampa Bay Lightning fans. On Saturday, it only brought heartbreak as the former Lightning captain, now clad in the mustard yellow uniform…

Former Tampa Bay captain Steven Stamkos led the Nashville Predators to a 5-4 shootout victory over the Lightning. Stamkos scored his first career goal against his former club late in the third period to force overtime before netting the decisive tally in the shootout. Tampa Bay surrendered three separate one-goal leads throughout the matinee contest.
Nikita Kucherov recorded three assists for the Lightning, setting up goals alongside teammates Jake Guentzel, Charle-Edouard D'Astous, and Victor Hedman. Conor Geekie also scored for Tampa Bay to give them a brief 4-3 advantage in the third period. For Nashville, Reid Schaefer and Adam Edstrom found the back of the net alongside Stamkos.
