The veteran forward suffered a lower-body injury against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that forward John Tavares will be sidelined on a week-to-week basis with a lower-body injury. The 36-year-old veteran suffered the injury during an awkward collision with Josh Norris in the third period of Toronto's 5-4 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday at Scotiabank Arena.
Tavares had recorded seven points in seven games to start the season prior to the injury. His absence adds to Toronto's injury concerns, with defenseman Chris Tanev also sidelined week-to-week, while the club opted not to recall a replacement from the Toronto Marlies ahead of Saturday's matchup against the New York Islanders.
