Stolarz is currently playing in the first year of a four-year, $15 million contract extension.
Any permanent trade would rely on Toronto's confidence in goaltender Artur Akhtyamov stepping into the NHL lineup.

The Story in 60 Seconds

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz has emerged as an under-the-radar trade candidate following the team's slow 3-4-2 start to the season. The Athletic's Jonas Siegel highlighted Stolarz as an option for Toronto to consider if a goaltender-needy team comes calling, as the Leafs struggle at the bottom of the Atlantic Division standings.

Stolarz is in the first year of a four-year, $15 million contract extension but has posted an .875 save percentage through three games. Writer Michael DeRosa notes that moving Stolarz would test the team's depth after off-season departures, though a permanent trade could help address other roster needs.
