According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks are among several teams considering a trade for Calgary Flames forward Conor Zary. The 25-year-old forward recently cleared waivers and was assigned to the AHL, where he scored in his first game back. Friedman indicated that while a deal is not imminent, Vancouver has examined the possibility.
Financial hurdles remain a significant factor, as Zary is currently in the second year of a three-year contract carrying an average annual value of $3.775 million. The Flames reportedly prefer not to use their final salary retention slot, meaning any potential trade would likely require creative cap maneuvering or asset balancing.
