Scenes from practice: DeBrusk skips skate at UBC; Meriläinen joins Canucks for first time

The Vancouver Canucks conducted their final preseason practice on Monday at UBC before traveling to Edmonton for Tuesday's season opener. Winger Jake DeBrusk skipped the skate after being evaluated for a lower-body injury, though he traveled with the team. Arshdeep Bains filled in on the top line alongside Elias Pettersson and Jonathan Lekkerimäki.

Goaltender Leevi Meriläinen participated in his first practice with Vancouver after being claimed off waivers from Ottawa on Friday. Meriläinen skated with Kevin Lankinen and Chris Driedger, while coach Manny Malhotra expressed optimism regarding DeBrusk's availability for the opening contest against the Oilers.
