The Winnipeg Jets are without three-time Vezina Trophy-winning goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who is sitting out of action after requesting a trade from the team that drafted him in 2012 after a disappointing 2025-26 season for both team and player.
Daily Faceoff evaluated whether the Winnipeg Jets can rely on goaltenders Stuart Skinner and Clay Stevenson while Connor Hellebuyck sits out following a trade request. Free-agent signing Skinner and waiver pickup Stevenson have guided Winnipeg to a 2-0-1 start atop the Central Division through three games. Former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton argued on Daily Faceoff Live that the tandem is dependable enough to keep the Jets competitive.
Hutton highlighted that Stevenson's AHL experience and maturity prepare him for an expanded NHL role under Skinner's protection. Despite Skinner's historically inconsistent performances, Hutton suggested Stevenson is entering his prime years, making the tandem an effective fit for the Jets.
