The Winnipeg Jets have claimed goaltender Clay Stevenson off waivers amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding starter Connor Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck requested a trade during the summer and was subsequently suspended by the Jets after failing to report to training camp. The team is currently assessing how to proceed with the position heading into the season.

Stevenson, who previously appeared in five regular-season NHL games for the Washington Capitals, joins a goaltending group that also includes offseason acquisition Stuart Skinner.
