“It’s with his management and the Titans now.”

AJ Brimson's potential permanent transfer to the PNG Chiefs is facing complications due to a financial dispute between the Gold Coast Titans and the incoming expansion club over his early release. Brimson is under contract with the Titans through 2030, but he is negotiating a move to become a foundation player for the Chiefs starting in their inaugural 2028 NRL season. Chiefs head coach Willie Peters confirmed strong interest in signing him.
The Chiefs have reportedly offered the 28-year-old a three-year deal worth roughly $750,000 per season tax-free, compared to his existing $900,000 annual Titans deal. Although the tax advantage could yield Brimson up to $1 million more in net pay, both clubs have not yet agreed on how to bridge the salary difference to finalize an early exit.
