The former Kumuls winger believes crowd behaviour needs to improve as the PNG Chiefs prepare for their NRL debut.

Former Papua New Guinea international David Mead has called for supporter education after footage revealed a violent grandstand brawl at Santos National Stadium. The incident occurred at the future home ground of the PNG Chiefs, raising concerns regarding crowd management, player intimidation, and future player recruitment ahead of the club's planned entry into the NRL in 2028.
Mead emphasized that stadium security must meet high standards to prevent isolated disruptions from escalating and threatening player welfare. The Chiefs are scheduled to unveil their official NRL logo on October 21 and reveal their inaugural playing jersey on October 22 ahead of their prospective 2028 competition debut.
