It was 12 years ago this week that Gareth Anscombe first arrived in Wales amid a blaze of publicity.

Fly-half Gareth Anscombe has reflected on returning to Welsh rugby with the Llanelli-based Scarlets at age 35. Anscombe joined the Scarlets following a stint in France with Bayonne, noting that head coach Dwayne Peel reached out late in the season to bring him back to Wales.
Anscombe made his second league appearance for the Scarlets in a 52-40 loss to the DHL Stormers in Cape Town. He is now focused on mentoring younger players, competing for playing time, and preparing for an upcoming match against the Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria.
