Asia’s top rugby sevens sides have been locked in for 2026 after a thrilling final weekend of action in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Hong Kong China men's sevens secured qualification for the HSBC SVNS 3 tournament despite suffering a 28-14 defeat to Japan in the final in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Japan clinched the men's tournament victory behind two tries from Yuma Nakagawa, while Max Denmark and Matt Worley scored for Hong Kong China. However, Hong Kong China did enough across previous results and point differential to defend their overall Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Series title.
Japan completed a tournament sweep in Colombo as the Sakura 7s claimed the women's title by defeating China 14-7 in their final. China's runner-up finish also earned them qualification for the HSBC SVNS 3 tournament scheduled for late November in Dubai. Meanwhile, Hong Kong China women secured bronze by defeating Kazakhstan 14-5.
