The Stormers have not accepted an EPCR committee’s recommendation to suspend hooker JJ Kotzé for foul play in the opening week of the Investec Champions Cup.

The Stormers have rejected an EPCR committee's proposed three-week suspension for hooker JJ Kotze following a foul play incident in the Investec Champions Cup. Kotze received a 20-minute red card from referee Kevin Bralley in the 33rd minute of Saturday's 49-12 victory over the Bristol Bears at Cape Town Stadium after a dangerous tackle on scrumhalf Kieran Marmion.
An independent disciplinary committee chaired by Daniel Gore will hear the matter via video conference on Wednesday. If the suspension is upheld, the 25-year-old hooker will miss upcoming United Rugby Championship matches against the Scarlets, Ulster, and the Sharks.
