Gloucester technical director Chris Boyd expressed disappointment after his side played out a thrilling 36-36 draw against European champions Bordeaux Begles at Kingsholm. Despite holding the continental holders to a tie in the opening round, Boyd lamented missing an opportunity to claim a famous victory.
Gloucester had led 36-29 midway through the second half following two tries from replacement Will Trenholm. However, Bordeaux winger Louis Bielle-Biarrey crossed for his second try of the match to level the scores and earn a share of the points.
