Thirteen changes, a new captain and unfamiliar combinations leave the Springboks vulnerable early, but their heavyweight bench should settle the argument in Perth.

South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus made 13 changes to the Springboks starting lineup ahead of their upcoming Test match against the Wallabies in Perth. Center André Esterhuizen has been appointed captain for the clash following four consecutive Tests against the All Blacks. The wholesale alterations leave the starting side with several unfamiliar combinations across the pitch.
Erasmus has balanced the rotated starting fifteen by naming an experienced bench that includes Malcolm Marx and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu. The replacements are positioned to counter Australia's breakdown strength and provide late-game physical power if needed.
