Wales wing Louis Rees-Zammit played a starring role as Bristol posted an early-season statement win by beating Gallagher Prem champions Northampton 41-26 at Ashton Gate.

Louis Rees-Zammit scored two tries as Bristol Bears secured a 41-26 bonus-point victory over reigning Gallagher Premiership champions Northampton Saints at Ashton Gate. Harry Randall, Gabriel Oghre, and Tom Jordan also scored tries for Bristol, alongside a penalty try, while James Williams added three conversions and a penalty to ensure the hosts claimed their second straight league win.
Northampton remained competitive through tries from George Hendy, Alex Mitchell, and Josh Kemeny, but finished with 13 players after yellow cards for Tommy Freeman and Ion Neculai. Elsewhere in the league, Gloucester cruised to a 48-0 shutout victory against Harlequins, and Leicester Tigers held on to defeat Newcastle Falcons 24-19.
