Matthias Ginter has signed a contract extension with SC Freiburg.

SC Freiburg have officially announced that central defender Matthias Ginter has signed a contract extension with the club. The Bundesliga team confirmed the agreement on Tuesday, though the specific length of the 32-year-old's new deal remains undisclosed. Chief sporting officer Jochen Saier praised Ginter as an ambitious, key figure whose consistent performances have guided the team's development.
Ginter initially developed through Freiburg's youth academy, making his Bundesliga debut in January 2012. After stints with Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach, he rejoined Freiburg in 2022. To date, the defender has made 255 total appearances for the club, recording 20 goals and 19 assists.
