The Story in 60 Seconds

Inter Milan are facing complicated contract negotiations with Federico Dimarco after the wingback reportedly demanded a salary of around €7.5 million per season. Dimarco currently earns roughly €5.2 million annually, and the proposed increase would make him the club's second-highest earner behind captain Lautaro Martinez. However, Inter are hesitant to meet these figures as club owners Oaktree aim to maintain strict control over the wage bill.

Despite the impasse, Inter hold an option to unilaterally extend Dimarco's contract from June 2027 to 2028, which they reportedly plan to trigger before the end of 2026. The Cult of Calcio notes that while both sides remain optimistic about reaching an agreement, Inter are expected to push for performance-related bonuses to bridge the financial gap.
