The post caused no shortage of controversy in the player's home country.

Newcastle United youngster Park Seung-soo has issued a public apology following backlash over a social media post showing him wearing a 'discharge cap'. Park received criticism in South Korea after posting the image celebrating his team's Asian Games gold medal victory over Japan, which earned the squad exemption from mandatory military service.
Park stated on Instagram that he accepted the cap from a fan and wore it without considering its meaning, clarifying he never intended to mock those serving in the military. Korean Sport and Olympic Committee president Ryu Seung-min noted that such actions do not align with public sentiment.
