A number of big-name forwards, and an elite defensive outside back are the key.

Writer Scott Pryde has identified five potential recruitment targets for the North Queensland Cowboys ahead of the November 1 contracting window. With players like Jeremiah Nanai and Jason Taumalolo coming off-contract at the end of 2027, Pryde suggests the club must actively refresh their roster to address ongoing defensive vulnerabilities and squad depth across multiple positions.
The proposed transfer targets include Victor Radley from the Sydney Roosters, J'maine Hopgood from the Parramatta Eels, Campbell Graham from the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Liam Martin from the Penrith Panthers, and Harrison Graham from the Newcastle Knights. Pryde argues these additions would add necessary toughness, defensive reliability, and hooker depth to head coach Todd Payten's squad.
