Terry McLaurin was carted off the field during Monday night’s game. Pessimism soon emerged with respect to the chances of a return taking place this season, and it has proved to be well-founded.
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn patellar tendon, head coach Dan Quinn confirmed on Tuesday. McLaurin sustained the injury during Monday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers and was carted off in an air cast. Quinn announced that the veteran wideout will undergo surgery before beginning a lengthy rehabilitation process.
McLaurin's absence leaves a major void in Washington's offense after he averaged 15.3 yards per catch prior to the injury. In his absence, veteran wideout Stefon Diggs and rookie Antonio Williams are expected to see expanded workloads. McLaurin remains under contract through 2028 after signing a three-year extension during the previous offseason.
