The New York Islanders have fared well without Mathew Barzal this season. Just how long they will have to play without the veteran center, however, remains a mystery.
The New York Islanders will aim to capture their first three-game winning streak of the season on Thursday night when they host the Los Angeles Kings. The Islanders enter the contest riding a four-game point streak after defeating the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 on Tuesday. However, star center Mathew Barzal remains sidelined indefinitely due to ongoing inflammation in his left knee.
General manager Mathieu Darche confirmed Barzal is skating but has no firm timeline for a return. Meanwhile, the Kings visit New York fresh off earning their first win of the season, a 5-2 comeback victory against the Washington Capitals that snapped Los Angeles's six-game winless start.
