Key Things to Know
  • Mustafizur Rahman has applied for a BCB NOC to make his Big Bash League debut with Melbourne Renegades.
  • BCB president Tamim Iqbal confirmed that Mustafizur and Rishad Hossain both formally requested tournament clearance.
  • The BBL directly overlaps with the domestic D3 T20 phase, limiting Mustafizur to the tournament's ODI format.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Bangladesh pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman has submitted a No Objection Certificate request to the Bangladesh Cricket Board to play in the Big Bash League. If approved, Mustafizur is expected to make his tournament debut with the Melbourne Renegades. BCB president Tamim Iqbal confirmed that both Mustafizur and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain have formally sought clearance to participate in the upcoming Australian T20 competition.

The BBL schedule in December and January directly clashes with the T20 segment of Bangladesh's domestic D3 tournament. Consequently, Mustafizur was only picked for D3's ODI format by Seven Rings Cement for 70 lakh virtual points. If cleared, he will become the second Bangladeshi cricketer to play for the Renegades after Shakib Al Hasan.
