The decision to retain fast bowlers as cover is part of a long-term workload management strategy devised months before the tour…
Indian men's national cricket team bowling coach Morne Morkel stated that the team has devised a bulletproof workload management plan for its bowlers during the ongoing tour of New Zealand. The strategy involves retaining a dedicated group of backup seamers in New Zealand for the upcoming two-match Test series in November, which immediately follows a demanding sequence of five T20Is and five ODIs.
Morkel confirmed that left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is under consideration for a red-ball Test debut as part of this plan. The coaching staff plans to rotate bowlers during the 50-over matches to build stamina and ensure key bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, are prepared for the first Test without risking burnout.
