‘Know the type of person I am’: Aussie star opens up for first time on marriage breakdown

Australia cricket vice-captain Ash Gardner has spoken publicly for the first time about the breakdown of her marriage. Speaking at the Sydney Sixers' season launch in North Sydney, the star all-rounder described the past few months as challenging while calling cricket a fantastic escape. Gardner's personal life became public earlier in the year following allegations regarding her relationship with Australian teammate Georgia Voll.

Gardner credited her teammates, close supporters, and the Sixers hierarchy, including outgoing general manager Rachael Haynes, for backing her through the difficult period. Despite off-field scrutiny, Gardner experienced recent success by winning the T20 World Cup and The Hundred, while also hitting 84 runs against New Zealand ahead of the upcoming Women's Big Bash League season.
