Adams has played parts of five seasons in the majors with the Nationals and Blue Jays.

Free agent catcher Riley Adams has signed a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training with the Boston Red Sox. The move represents Boston's first transaction of the offseason. Adams stated he chose the Red Sox because he believed the organization offered him a legitimate path to compete for a spot in Major League Baseball.
The 30-year-old spent the 2026 season with the Washington Nationals' Triple-A affiliate, hitting .273 with 16 home runs and 15 doubles. Boston's catching depth chart features starter Adley Rutschman and backup Connor Wong heading into 2027.
