Former Toronto Blue Jays left-handed pitcher Eric Lauer has elected free agency after being removed from the Los Angeles Dodgers roster on Thursday, October 29. Lauer, who spent parts of the last two seasons with Toronto, was traded to the Dodgers midway through the 2026 season. He missed the postseason while on the injured list and is now available to sign as an unrestricted free agent with any team.
The 31-year-old posted a strong 3.18 ERA in 2025 with the Blue Jays before struggling with a 6.69 ERA in six starts in 2026 prior to his trade. Over 12 starts with Los Angeles, Lauer registered a 4.50 ERA. Writer TJ French notes that while Lauer may seek starting pitcher money, interested clubs might instead consider him as a long-relief or bridge option.
