Steven Kwan has lived in trade rumors for two straight offseasons. After the Cleveland Guardians finished two wins short of the World Series, one MLB insider, Jim Bowden, said that should end.

MLB insider Jim Bowden argued that the Cleveland Guardians should reject trade offers for outfielder Steven Kwan following their elimination in the ALCS. Despite persistent trade rumors linking Kwan to teams such as the Padres, Cubs, and Dodgers, Cleveland's president of baseball operations, Chris Antonetti, stated that the organization expects Kwan to remain a key contributor for next season.
Bowden noted that Kwan's strong .382 on-base percentage and elite defense make him valuable, potentially drawing interest as a leadoff option ahead of Shohei Ohtani for Los Angeles. However, with Kwan projected to earn $11.3 million in arbitration before hitting free agency after 2027, the writer highlights that Cleveland would require a steep return and may prefer keeping him to contend.
