Future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer, 42, might keep pitching, and if his boffo finale in Toronto on short rest is any indication, there’s more there.

Max Scherzer, 42, is contemplating pitching a 20th Major League Baseball season and plans to participate in lockout games near his home in Florida. The veteran pitcher told the New York Post that these informal games will help him determine whether he will return to pitch next season.
Scherzer's strong final outing on short rest in Toronto signaled that he could still compete at a high level. In addition to extending his career, he sits at 3,556 strikeouts, leaving him just three behind Justin Verlander for eighth on the all-time career strikeout list.
