Blazing Tiger secured a victory by a head over 8-5 favorite Doubting Thomas to capture the $175,000 Carle Place at Belmont Park on Saturday. Trained by Miguel Clement and ridden by Manny Franco, the 3-year-old gelding completed the six-furlong sprint on the Tapeta track in 1:09.55, marking the first consecutive winning streak of his eight-race career.
After rating off the early fractions set by stablemate Illmatic, Blazing Tiger rallied from the inside to edge Doubting Thomas near the wire, with Two Out Hero finishing third. The victory pushed the Kentucky-bred sophomore's career earnings to $255,950 from eight starts for an ownership group that includes Adelphi Racing Club.
