Brady Tkachuk scored twice, but the Florida Panthers fell 4-3 to Washington as Tom Wilson's hit on Sandis Vilmanis added to the team's injury concerns.

The Florida Panthers lost 4-3 to the Washington Capitals on Saturday afternoon, a contest overshadowed by a controversial hit from Capitals forward Tom Wilson on Sandis Vilmanis. Wilson was ejected after receiving a five-minute major and a game misconduct for hitting Vilmanis from behind into the boards, leaving the Panthers forward unable to return to the game. Brady Tkachuk scored twice and Sam Bennett added a goal for Florida in the defeat.
Writer Ryan Gagne criticised Wilson's playing style and expressed concern over Florida's mounting injuries, which already include Aleksander Barkov, Brad Marchand, and Anton Lundell. Panthers goaltender Akira Schmid made 27 saves in place of Jacob Markström as Florida dropped to a 9-6-2 record.
