Kawhi Leonard’s $18.4M Sacrifice Comes to Light as He Signs Final NBA Deal With Raptors

Kawhi Leonard has signed a two-year, $115 million contract extension with the Toronto Raptors that includes a player option for the 2028–29 season. The agreement brings his total remaining commitment with Toronto to three years and $165 million, adding onto his $50.3 million salary for the 2026–27 campaign. Leonard intends to finish his NBA career with the franchise.

To facilitate the move, the 35-year-old forward sacrificed $18.45 million by taking $11 million below his eligible maximum and waiving a $7.45 million trade kicker. The extension was negotiated by his new agent, Harrison Gaines, following Leonard's earlier trade from the Los Angeles Clippers.
